NU sweeps in last tune up before Stanford

Wildcats win fourth straight, improve to 10-0 with dominant performance against UIC

Northwestern opened its final tune up before Stanford in dominant fashion, sweeping UIC in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

The Wildcats (10-0) never trailed in the three-set sweep, winning 25-13, 25-16, 25-17.

Sophomore outside hitter Temi Thomas-Ailara led the way for NU with 12 kills, while senior outside hitter Abryanna Cannon added 10 kills and junior setter Miette Veldman had 24 assists.

The Wildcats hit .310 as a team and held UIC to a .105 hitting percentage.

NU also had a 9-4 edge in blocks and a 31-22 advantage in digs.

The Wildcats will open their Pac-12 schedule next week when they host Stanford on Friday, Sept. 23.
