No. 5 Nebraska Volleyball Sweeps No. 2 Stanford

Huskers Extend Winning Streak to 16 Matches

Strong Defense Paves Way for Nebraska Victory

The No. 5 Nebraska volleyball team continued their impressive start to the season on Wednesday night, sweeping No. 2 Stanford in three sets (25-20, 25-16, 25-20) in front of a sold-out crowd at the Devaney Center.

The Huskers, who have now won 16 straight matches, were led by Madi Kubik's 15 kills. Whitney Lauenstein added 12 kills, and Kaitlyn Hord had 10 kills. Nebraska hit .347 as a team and had just five errors on the night.

Stanford, which entered the match with just one loss on the season, was held to a .141 hitting percentage. Kathryn Plummer led the Cardinal with 12 kills, but she also had seven errors.

Nebraska's defense was outstanding all night, led by libero Lexi Rodriguez's 20 digs. The Huskers also had 10 blocks, including four from Hord.

The win was Nebraska's first over Stanford since 2017. It also marked the Huskers' first sweep of the Cardinal since 2015.

"This was a great win for our team," said Nebraska coach John Cook. "Stanford is a great team, and we knew we would have to play our best to beat them. I'm proud of the way our team competed tonight."

With the win, Nebraska improves to 16-1 on the season. The Huskers will return to action on Saturday night when they host No. 11 Wisconsin.
