Antithrombotic Therapy Recommendations
Low-Risk Patients
For patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and low risk of stroke, antithrombotic therapy is not recommended.
Men with Moderate Risk
Consider anticoagulation with a direct-acting oral anticoagulant (DOAC) for men with AF and a CHA-2DS2-VASc score of 1.
Treatment Goals
The aim of treatment for AF is to prevent complications, particularly stroke, and alleviate symptoms.
